Yanmar Compact Equipment has launched three small-frame compact track loaders equipped with the patented ASV Posi-Track undercarriage in North America, marking the first major step toward consolidating the company’s loader portfolio under the Yanmar brand.
The new radial-lift lineup includes the TL25RP, TL40RP and TL50RP. Operating weights range from 3,870 to 5,205 pounds, while engine output spans from 23.2 to 53.8 horsepower. All three machines are positioned for construction, landscaping, property maintenance, land management and rental operations where low ground pressure and compact dimensions are important.
The launch also signals the gradual phase-out of ASV-branded compact track loaders following Yanmar’s acquisition of the Minnesota manufacturer in 2019. ASV’s engineering, including its distinctive suspended track system, will remain part of the product portfolio, but the machines will increasingly carry Yanmar branding.
ASV Posi-Track Undercarriage
The “P” in each model designation identifies the Posi-Track undercarriage, while the “R” indicates a radial-lift loader-arm configuration.
Unlike a conventional rigid undercarriage, the ASV system uses independently suspended torsion axles. This allows the track frames to respond to uneven ground while helping the loader maintain more consistent contact with the surface.
The design is intended to improve traction, ride quality and machine stability on mud, sand, snow, slopes and rough terrain. The rubber-track configuration also spreads machine weight across a larger contact area, reducing ground pressure and limiting surface disturbance.
This makes the three new loaders particularly relevant for landscaping, residential construction, turf work and property maintenance. Contractors working primarily on rock, demolition debris or hard paved surfaces may still prefer Yanmar’s larger steel-embedded track machines for their additional durability.
Yanmar will continue offering both undercarriage concepts rather than replacing one with the other. Its current North American compact track loader lineup ranges from the 3,870-pound TL25RP to the 10,555-pound TL100VS.
Yanmar TL25RP Specs
The TL25RP is the smallest machine in the new range and is designed for confined jobsites, narrow access points and applications where transport weight is a major consideration.

At only 48 inches wide, the TL25RP can operate in spaces that are inaccessible to most conventional compact track loaders. Its size also makes it easier to transport using lighter trailers and tow vehicles, depending on the attachment and local weight regulations.
The machine is powered by a turbocharged Yanmar diesel engine and uses separate pilot-operated joysticks for drive and loader functions. A hand-operated rotary throttle allows the operator to maintain a consistent engine speed during attachment work.
Machine information is displayed through a 3.5-inch color monitor showing engine speed, coolant temperature, fuel level, battery voltage and diagnostic information.
An open ROPS operator station is standard, while a cold-weather cab is available for customers operating in colder climates.
Yanmar TL40RP Specs
The TL40RP retains the same 48-inch overall width as the TL25RP but provides a substantial increase in engine power, torque and hydraulic capability.

The TL40RP is likely to be the most versatile model for contractors who need narrow-machine access but cannot accept the lower output of an entry-level loader.
Its additional horsepower should make it better suited to hydraulically powered attachments, heavier buckets and more demanding grading or land-clearing work. The increase in peak torque is particularly significant because compact loaders frequently operate under rapidly changing loads rather than at a constant engine speed.
The machine comes standard with an open ROPS station and can be ordered with an enclosed all-weather cab. Operator information is presented on a larger 4.3-inch color display.
Yanmar TL50RP Specs
The TL50RP is the largest of the three new Posi-Track models and offers a more conventional compact track loader footprint while remaining lighter than Yanmar’s full-size steel-embedded machines.

With 53.8 horsepower and 13.3 gallons per minute of auxiliary hydraulic flow, the TL50RP is equipped for more demanding attachment work, including snow removal, brush handling, property maintenance and light land-clearing applications.
Its 1,400-pound rated operating capacity represents a considerable step up from the two smaller machines. The 2,920-pound breakout force should also provide more effective bucket filling when working in compacted soil, aggregate or construction material.
Like the TL40RP, the TL50RP uses a 4.3-inch color display and can be configured with either an open ROPS station or an enclosed all-weather cab.
Radial Lift Performance
All three machines use radial-lift loader geometry rather than vertical-lift arms.
Radial-lift machines generally provide strong digging performance and favorable breakout characteristics at lower and middle points in the lift cycle. They are commonly selected for grading, excavation, site preparation and ground-level material handling.
Vertical-lift loaders typically provide greater forward reach near full lift height, making them better suited to loading high-sided trucks or placing material at maximum elevation.
Yanmar’s decision to use radial lift on these small-frame models is technically logical. Their most likely applications involve maneuvering, digging, carrying and operating attachments at lower heights rather than repetitive loading into tall trucks.
Two Track Systems
The new models do not replace Yanmar’s existing steel-embedded compact track loaders. Instead, they create two distinct product groups.
The rubber Posi-Track machines prioritize flotation, traction, suspension movement and reduced ground pressure. They are best matched to sensitive terrain, soft soil, wet conditions and work where operator ride quality matters.
The heavier steel-embedded track machines prioritize durability and stability in abrasive applications. Yanmar’s larger lineup includes models such as the 8,575-pound TL65RS-1C, 9,205-pound TL75VS-1C, 9,610-pound TL80VS-1C and 10,555-pound TL100VS.
Offering both designs under one brand gives customers a clearer choice based on operating conditions rather than forcing every buyer into a single undercarriage architecture.
Technical Assessment
The most important aspect of this launch is not the addition of three individual machines. It is Yanmar’s decision to preserve ASV’s specialized undercarriage technology while simplifying its commercial identity in North America.
That strategy has practical advantages. Yanmar gains a compact track loader range that extends from highly maneuverable 48-inch machines to full-size production loaders, while dealers can sell both suspended rubber-track and steel-embedded designs under one name.
Among the three models, the TL40RP appears to offer the strongest balance for a broad range of customers. It retains the 48-inch width of the TL25RP but delivers 38.2 horsepower and nearly 50% more peak torque. That combination should make it easier to justify as a primary machine rather than as a narrowly specialized loader.
The TL25RP is more application-specific. Its compact dimensions and low operating weight are valuable, but its 800-pound rated operating capacity will limit productivity in heavier material-handling work.
The TL50RP has the greatest commercial potential in snow removal, landscaping and property maintenance because it combines a 1,400-pound rated operating capacity with more than 50 horsepower. However, its 13.3-gpm auxiliary flow places it below machines designed for high-flow forestry cutters, large cold planers or other hydraulically intensive attachments.
The Posi-Track suspension remains the main technical differentiator. It is more than a branding feature because undercarriage behavior directly affects traction, operator fatigue, material retention and surface damage. The tradeoff is that buyers should consider undercarriage complexity, component costs and long-term service requirements when comparing it with a simpler rigid track frame.
Overall, the launch gives Yanmar a more complete and technically differentiated compact loader lineup. The remaining challenge will be preserving ASV’s established customer loyalty while convincing buyers that the transition to Yanmar branding does not reduce parts support, engineering continuity or resale value.
ASV Brand Transition
Yanmar acquired ASV Holdings in September 2019. ASV traces its history to 1983 and is widely associated with the development and commercialization of the compact track loader concept.
The move toward a unified Yanmar product identity follows several years of integration. The company says the three new models represent the first phase of expanding its Posi-Track offering in North America. Additional machines are likely because the former ASV range included 11 compact track loader models.
The consolidation should reduce overlap between the two brands, simplify dealer communication and allow Yanmar to present a single compact equipment portfolio. The larger business risk is that ASV has stronger recognition than Yanmar among some North American compact track loader customers, particularly those familiar with suspended undercarriages.
