VST Tillers Tractors, India’s leading manufacturer of compact farm machinery, made a major move into electric mechanization with the public debut of its new generation EV Power Tiller and EV Power Weeder at the 9th EIMA Agrimach held in New Delhi. The machines were unveiled by Smt. S. Rukmani from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, marking VST’s official entry into fully electric farm equipment.
Electric Power Tiller and Weeder Developed for Low Cost and High Efficiency
The electric models were fully engineered and built at VST’s modern manufacturing facilities. According to CEO Antony Cherukara, the company introduced these EV solutions to reduce operating costs, eliminate fuel dependency, and provide cleaner, easier-to-operate equipment for smallholder farmers.
EV Technology Built on International Engineering Experience
Before launching its own electric machinery, VST had spent several years supplying drivetrain components for autonomous electric tractors developed by US-based manufacturers. This experience allowed the company to apply proven EV concepts to India’s compact mechanization market, especially tillers and weeders used by small farmers.
Extensive Product Portfolio Displayed at the Exhibition
In addition to its electric debut, VST showcased a wide range of products that underscored its strong presence in the compact agriculture segment.
The display included:

- VST Zetor 50 hp tractor
The lineup highlighted both India-built tractors and specialized attachments tailored for small-farm operations.
Plans Announced for International Expansion
During the event, VST confirmed its intention to introduce the electric tiller and electric weeder to European and other international markets as part of its global expansion strategy.
Strong FY25 Market Performance Supports the EV Strategy
VST reported continued leadership in India’s tiller category, selling 37,297 units in FY25 compared with 36,480 units in FY24. The introduction of electric tillers and weeders is expected to further strengthen its position in the mechanization sector.
