The historic Santa Lucia di Piave International Agriculture Fair will return on Saturday, December 13, marking its extraordinary 1365th edition. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, December 14 at 11:00. With origins dating back to the 7th century as a trading point along the Piave River, the event is widely recognized as the world’s oldest continually held agricultural exhibition, interrupted only by wars and the recent pandemic.
Record Attendance and Full Exhibitor Lineup Expected
According to Alberto Nadal, CEO of the Santa Lucia Fair organization, the event consistently attracts more than 100,000 visitors across its three-day program. This year’s edition features high-level conferences, a national and international agri-food showcase, a large livestock market, equestrian shows and a major outdoor machinery exhibition. Over 300 exhibitors have confirmed their participation, and exhibition space sold out as early as the beginning of summer. More than 50,000 square meters are dedicated to next-generation agricultural equipment, with live demonstrations and field trials expected to draw strong interest from farmers and contractors.
Industry Panels to Focus on Precision Agriculture and Vineyard Protection
Key industry bodies including Condifesa Treviso-Vicenza-Belluno, CREA Viticulture and Enology, Confagricoltura Treviso and Coldiretti Treviso will lead technical discussions. Topics include integrated vineyard protection, soil conservation, the growing role of precision farming, robotics for crop management and advanced plant health defense strategies. A dedicated session will also explore the rapid expansion of extra virgin olive oil production across the region.
Digital Transition and AI at the Core of the 2025 Agenda
Nadal notes that this year’s fair places strong emphasis on digital transformation, sustainable production models and the emergence of new professional skills needed to manage AI-driven agriculture. Discussions will explore agronomic research, digital tools for precision operations, training for next-generation farm technicians and practical pathways toward economically viable green transition strategies.
Live Shows, Heritage Machines and Family Activities
Beyond the technical program, the fair maintains its traditional appeal with equestrian performances, the popular livestock area, vintage machinery displays and several new attractions including the “Sueño argentino” show and medieval tournament reenactments. The Baby Farm area returns with interactive activities for children, along with workshops and animated storytelling sessions hosted in the historic Filande buildings. For the first time, the event will feature two ambassadors, one male and one female, both well-known personalities from Italian television.
