Renewables has announced a new collaboration with Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) to integrate high-speed wireless charging into the e2T electric two-wheel tractor. The project uses the e2T as a real working platform to demonstrate how high-power, zero-mechanical-contact charging can be applied to agricultural and robotic equipment operating in harsh outdoor conditions.
The goal of the partnership is not just to show a lab prototype, but to prove that wireless charging can work reliably on practical field equipment where dust, moisture, vibration, and chemicals normally damage traditional connectors.
High-Power Wireless Charging for Electric and Robotic Equipment
MPS is using the Renewables e2T platform to showcase its high-power wireless charging technology designed for industrial and robotic systems. According to MPS, its wireless charging transmitters and receivers support power levels from 1 kW to 6 kW, targeting fast and efficient energy transfer without physical electrical contacts.
For the e2T project specifically, MPS is integrating a 3 kW wireless charging system.
This setup is intended to demonstrate:
- Zero-mechanical-contact charging.
- High efficiency energy transfer.
- Reduced wear compared to plug-in connectors.
- Better reliability in dirt, moisture, and chemically aggressive environments.
By removing physical connectors, the system reduces one of the most common failure points in electric machines used outdoors.
e2T Platform as a Testbed for Advanced Charging
Renewables’ e2T is a modular electric two-wheel tractor platform aimed at small-scale agriculture, land management, and future robotic applications. Its open and flexible architecture makes it suitable for testing new drivetrain, control, and charging technologies under real working conditions.
The e2T is not positioned as a single fixed product, but as a development platform that allows engineers to evaluate:
- Different electric powertrain concepts.
- Battery and energy management systems.
- Autonomous and robotic functions.
- Advanced charging solutions like wireless power transfer.
By using the e2T, MPS can show how wireless charging performs not just in theory, but in daily operation with real agricultural tasks.
Wireless Charging as a Step Toward More Resilient Electric Tractors
According to Renewables, high-power wireless charging is seen as a key step in making electric agricultural equipment more durable and easier to maintain. Traditional plug-in connectors are exposed to corrosion, dirt buildup, and mechanical damage, especially in farming environments.
With wireless charging:
- There are no exposed electrical pins.
- No plugging or unplugging is required.
- Maintenance related to connectors is reduced.
- Automation becomes easier for robotic machines.
This makes the technology especially attractive for future autonomous or semi-autonomous agricultural platforms that must charge themselves without human intervention.
