The Orkney islands are set to shine tonight as the farming community brings festive spirit to the roads with the return of the Christmas Tractor Run. The event transforms everyday agricultural machinery into a moving light show, combining seasonal celebration with fundraising for local causes.
Decorated tractors and farm machines bring festive cheer to Orkney streets
From fully lit tractors to gators, JCBs, and other farm vehicles, participants have gone all out with Christmas lights and themed displays. The illuminated convoy is expected to draw large crowds along the route, offering residents and visitors a unique seasonal spectacle that highlights Orkney’s strong agricultural identity.
Charity fundraising remains central to the Christmas Tractor Run
Beyond the visual impact, the event has a clear charitable focus. This year’s run raises funds for Parkinson’s Orkney and Macmillan Orkney, with organisers emphasizing the importance of community support and responsible viewing to keep the event safe and accessible for everyone.
Traffic guidance issued as organisers plan for large turnout
Due to the expected volume of vehicles and spectators, organisers have asked the public not to arrive at Orkney Auction Mart ahead of the start. Attendees are encouraged to park sensibly, keep access routes clear, and avoid obstructing the convoy as it moves through town.
