New Mitas Granterra Tyres

Mitas Launches Granterra VF PFO Tyre Series for High Horsepower Tractors

Mitas has officially introduced its new Granterra VF PFO tyre line, a purpose built series engineered for the latest generation of high horsepower tractors that must deliver maximum traction while minimizing soil stress. First showcased to the public at Agritechnica 2025, the range represents a significant technical upgrade in Mitas’ premium field tyre portfolio.

VF PFO Construction Maximizes Traction and Soil Protection

The Granterra series is built around Mitas’ VF PFO (Very High Flexion Pressure Field Operation) technology, which allows tyres to operate at lower inflation pressures and reduced speeds while carrying the same load as standard tyres. For high torque operations in the 5–15 km/h working range, this results in a wider, more consistent footprint that distributes weight evenly and noticeably reduces soil compaction.

The reinforced carcass structure enhances lateral stability during heavy tillage, deep ripping, and high draft applications, helping tractors maintain controlled pulling power across uneven and soft surfaces. According to Mitas, the design focus was to support long working days where consistent ground contact and low slippage directly translate into fuel efficiency and productivity.

New Tread Geometry Improves Grip, Longevity, and Stubble Resistance

A newly developed tread pattern features deeper lugs for improved penetration and self-cleaning in wet or heavy soils. The lug angles are optimized for maximum forward traction under high draft loads while maintaining stability at lower transport speeds.

A standout element is the raised protective area between the lugs. This component is engineered to shield the casing from aggressive crop stubble, particularly maize and sunflower residue, which is a common cause of premature tyre deterioration. Mitas says this feature significantly extends service life while keeping performance consistent over time.

Wide Tread Profile Enhances Stability and Reduces Soil Stress

The Granterra line uses a broader tread platform to spread tractor weight more evenly across the soil surface. This reduces rut depth and slippage while improving ride smoothness, especially at lower working pressures enabled by VF technology. For operators running large planters, cultivators, and subsoilers, this translates into steadier implement control and a more predictable tractor response throughout long field days.
