McCormick, part of the Italian-based Argo Tractors group, has unveiled its new flagship X8.634 VT-Drive, a contender for the Tractor of the Year 2026 award. At the heart of the machine is the six-cylinder FPT N67 engine equipped with an electronic variable geometry turbocharger (eVGT). Delivering a constant 340 horsepower, the power unit meets Stage V emissions standards through the HI-eSCR2 after-treatment system. Thanks to its suspended installation on elastic mounts, the engine runs smoothly and quietly, improving operator comfort. Maintenance is streamlined by a 90° bonnet opening and the Matrix Cooling System with single-handle quick-release access.
ZF TMT32 CVT Transmission for Efficiency and Precision
The tractor features the ZF TMT32 continuously variable transmission (CVT) with four electronically managed ranges. This setup ensures seamless power delivery with oil-cooled clutches and planetary gear sets. Operating speeds range from just 40 meters per hour for precision tasks up to 50 km/h in eco mode at 1,580 rpm. The rear PTO offers three selectable speeds (540ECO, 1000, 1000ECO) with adjustable start-up, while a front PTO is available as an option.
Advanced Hydraulics with Up to 212 L/min Flow
The X8.634 comes equipped with a high-capacity closed-center load-sensing (CCLS) hydraulic system, delivering 212 L/min with a dedicated 115 L/min steering pump. Up to six rear and three front electronically controlled spool valves are available, powered through a separate hydraulic circuit with a 90-liter tank. The rear hitch lifts up to 12,000 kg, complemented by a robust front hitch capable of 5,000 kg.
Clever Cab Redefines Operator Comfort
The newly designed Clever Cab offers a 16% increase in glazed surface area, 14% more interior volume, and an additional 76 mm of height. Comfort Sky® glass reduces cabin temperature by up to 6°C and lowers noise levels to just 67 dB. The ergonomic Grammer seat with swiveling headrest, premium finishes, and improved climate control further enhance the operator’s working environment. Accessibility has been improved with a 62 mm wider door and repositioned handle.
Interior refinements include a 7-inch Alpine DAB+ audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple storage compartments with air conditioning, and enhanced LED lighting for nighttime operations.
Digital Farming with DSM Plus and Smart Connectivity
McCormick integrates its DSM Plus system with dual 12-inch displays — a digital dashboard and a touchscreen on the armrest. Operators gain full control over tractor functions, precision steering with RTK, ISOBUS compatibility, and customizable menus such as MyFunction and MyLights. DSM Plus seamlessly connects with smartphones, ensuring an intuitive and future-ready user interface.
For Agriculture 4.0, the X8.634 supports McCormick Fleet Management, Remote Diagnostics, and Farm Management, offering real-time fleet supervision, prescription maps, traceability, and over-the-air updates.
Smart Features for Productivity and Sustainability
Additional technology includes the McCormick EazyGrip automatic tire inflation and deflation system, along with a Central Grease System for automatic lubrication. Both features lower operating costs, increase uptime, and improve soil care during field operations.
