Massey Ferguson has introduced the new 7S Mark 2 tractor series, expanding its agricultural machinery lineup with six models delivering 170 to 245 horsepower. The newly developed range combines a 7.5-liter AGCO Power engine, Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission, reinforced driveline components and the larger operator cab previously reserved for the company’s 8S and 9S tractors.
Announced on September 30, 2026, the MF 7S Mark 2 will occupy a position between the existing 7S and 8S Xtra series. Rather than replacing the current 7S, Massey Ferguson is introducing a separate tractor platform designed to provide higher continuous power and additional operating capacity without the weight of a full-size 8S.
The new tractors weigh approximately 8.5 to 9 metric tons, depending on configuration, making them about 1.5 metric tons lighter than the larger 8S. The series will make its public debut at EIMA International in November 2026, with deliveries of production tractors scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
Six Models With 170 to 245 HP
The MF 7S Mark 2 range includes six tractors, starting with the MF 7S.170 and extending to the flagship MF 7S.245.
The available specs establish the following power range:
| Specification | MF 7S Mark 2 |
|---|---|
| Number of models | 6 |
| Entry model | MF 7S.170 |
| Flagship model | MF 7S.245 |
| Engine power | 170–245 hp |
| Maximum rated output | 180 kW |
| Engine | AGCO Power CORE75 |
| Displacement | 7.5 liters |
| Transmission | Dyna-VT CVT |
| Wheelbase | 116.1 inches (2,950 mm) |
| Operating weight | Approximately 18,740–19,840 lb |
| Maximum permitted gross weight | Approximately 30,865 lb |
| Rear lift capacity | 21,164 lb (9,600 kg) |
| Hydraulic flow | 110, 150 or 190 L/min |
| Fuel capacity | 108.3 US gallons (410 liters) |
| DEF capacity | 14.9 US gallons (56.5 liters) |
| Service interval | 600 hours |
Unlike the existing 7S tractors, which use Engine Power Management to provide additional horsepower under certain conditions, the new Mark 2 models deliver their specified maximum power without a temporary boost function.
This distinction is important for applications requiring sustained engine output, including heavy tillage, high-load PTO operations and transportation.
For comparison, the existing MF 7S.210 develops up to 220 hp with Engine Power Management. The new flagship MF 7S.245 delivers 245 hp without relying on an additional power boost.
The intermediate model designations and their individual horsepower ratings have not yet been established in the available technical information.
AGCO Power CORE75 Engine
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of the AGCO Power CORE75 engine. The new 7.5-liter powerplant replaces the 6.6-liter engine architecture used in the existing MF 7S range. Although the CORE75 engine family is also used in the Fendt 700 Vario series, Massey Ferguson has selected a different operating configuration for its new tractors. Maximum engine power is developed at 1,900 rpm, while peak torque is reached at 1,500 rpm.
The engine features a single turbocharger and meets European Stage V emissions requirements without exhaust gas recirculation. Eliminating EGR from the combustion system reduces the number of components associated with recirculating exhaust gases into the intake system. However, actual maintenance costs and fuel consumption will depend on the complete engine calibration and emissions aftertreatment configuration.
Massey Ferguson has also increased the engine oil sump capacity, allowing a 600-hour service interval. The fuel system is compatible with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), providing an alternative to conventional petroleum-derived diesel where approved fuel supplies are available.
Larger Fuel and DEF Tanks
The new engine installation is accompanied by significantly increased onboard fluid capacity. Fuel capacity reaches 410 liters, representing a 25% increase compared with the standard 7S series, while the DEF tank grows by 88% to 56.5 liters. The additional capacity should reduce the frequency of refueling stops during extended working days, particularly when operating high-demand implements.
However, Massey Ferguson has not yet published comparable fuel consumption figures for the new 7S Mark 2 and the existing 7S under identical operating conditions. The increase in displacement and continuous horsepower therefore cannot, by itself, establish whether the new tractors will consume more or less fuel per acre.
Dyna-VT CVT Transmission
All six MF 7S Mark 2 tractors will initially be available exclusively with Massey Ferguson’s Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission. The transmission belongs to AGCO’s ML180 family, which is already used in the existing MF 7S range. The system allows continuously variable travel speeds while automatically coordinating engine speed and transmission ratio.
For field operations, this arrangement permits the tractor to maintain a selected working speed as engine load changes. For transportation, it allows the engine and transmission to adjust their operating points without conventional stepped gear changes.
Three maximum travel speeds will be offered:
- 40 km/h (24.9 mph)
- 50 km/h (31.1 mph)
- 57 km/h (35.4 mph)
Importantly, the maximum permitted gross vehicle weight remains 14 metric tons even when the tractor is configured for 57 km/h operation.
Reinforced Rear Axle
Although the Dyna-VT transmission is carried over from the existing series, the rear driveline has received several mechanical upgrades. These include larger rear axle housings, thicker axle shafts and revised braking components. The modifications address the increased power and operating demands associated with the new tractor platform.
The front axle has also been updated. A Dana 750 suspended front axle is standard equipment, providing 140 mm (5.5 inches) of suspension travel. Massey Ferguson describes the front axle as maintenance-free. An electronic parking lock is included as standard.
Future Powershift Transmission
Massey Ferguson is also evaluating an alternative transmission architecture. According to the initial technical presentation, engineers are testing a new powershift transmission featuring ten speeds across two ranges. However, the manufacturer has not confirmed whether this transmission will enter production or become available for the 7S Mark 2. For now, Dyna-VT remains the only confirmed transmission option.
New Chassis and Weight Distribution
The MF 7S Mark 2 introduces a newly developed tractor platform rather than a conventional update to the existing 7S. Its 2,950 mm wheelbase positions it between the smaller 7S, at approximately 2,880 mm, and the larger 8S, at approximately 3,050 mm. The resulting configuration combines a relatively compact wheelbase with an operator environment developed for higher-horsepower tractors.
At approximately 8.5 to 9 metric tons, the new series is around 1.5 metric tons lighter than the MF 8S. This weight difference has practical implications for agricultural operations. A lighter tractor can reduce total machine mass during transportation and may offer advantages where soil compaction is a concern. However, sufficient ballast remains essential when transferring higher engine power into drawbar pull.
The combination of a 245 hp engine, larger tires and a reinforced rear axle suggests that Massey Ferguson intends the new platform to cover both demanding field applications and high-speed road transportation. The actual advantage over the existing 7S or larger 8S will depend on tire selection, ballast, implement requirements and operating conditions.
Hydraulics and PTO Specs
The MF 7S Mark 2 retains the established rear linkage capacity of 9,600 kg, equivalent to approximately 21,164 lb.
Three hydraulic flow configurations are available:
| Hydraulic configuration | Flow rate |
|---|---|
| Standard output | 110 L/min |
| Intermediate output | 150 L/min |
| High output | 190 L/min |
The highest-output configuration is particularly relevant for implements requiring substantial continuous hydraulic flow, including certain seed drills, planters and hydraulically driven attachments. Four rear PTO speeds are available, although the specific speed combinations for individual markets have not yet been detailed in the initial announcement.
The combination of high hydraulic capacity, a continuously variable transmission and constant engine power gives the new tractors considerable flexibility across mixed farming operations. For contractors, the ability to match transmission behavior and hydraulic output to different implements may be more important than the increase in maximum engine power alone..
New BKT VF Tire Sizes
Massey Ferguson has worked with BKT to develop two new VF tire sizes specifically for the 7S Mark 2 platform.
The available rear tire configurations:
| Rear tire | Front tire |
|---|---|
| VF 710/60R44 | VF 600/65R30 |
| VF 650/70R42 | VF 600/65R30 |
Both rear tire options have an overall diameter of approximately 2 meters. The VF 710/60R44 is intended as a versatile configuration for fieldwork and road transportation, while the VF 650/70R42 targets applications requiring increased load-carrying capability and heavy draft performance.
Very High Flexion (VF) tire construction permits greater load capacity at a given inflation pressure, or lower inflation pressure for a given load, compared with equivalent conventional radial agricultural tires, subject to manufacturer load and speed tables. Lower operating pressure can increase the tire’s contact area, although actual soil pressure and compaction depend on axle loads, soil conditions and tire setup.
High-Capacity Air Compressor
A 310 L/min onboard air compressor is standard equipment, while an optional twin-piston compressor increases the maximum air delivery capacity to 800 L/min. The higher-capacity compressor is intended primarily for tractors equipped with central tire inflation systems, allowing operators to adjust inflation pressure when transitioning between fieldwork and road transportation.
The ability to lower tire pressure for field operations and restore higher pressure for road travel may help operators balance traction, ground pressure and tire operating temperature. The new BKT tire sizes are expected to become available to other tractor manufacturers following the 7S Mark 2’s public presentation at EIMA in November 2026.
Larger 8S and 9S Cab
The new tractor series adopts the same basic cab architecture used in the larger Massey Ferguson 8S and 9S ranges. The cab is mounted slightly lower on the 7S Mark 2 chassis, helping integrate its larger dimensions into the smaller tractor platform.
Key cab specs:
| Cab feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Interior volume | 3.4 m³ |
| Glass area | 6.6 m² |
| Engine-to-cab separation | 150 mm |
| Main terminal | Datatronic 6 |
| Display size | 12 inches |
| Simultaneous camera feeds | Up to 4 |
The distinctive 150 mm separation between the engine hood and cab has been retained. This arrangement is designed to reduce the transfer of heat, noise and vibration from the engine compartment into the operator environment. The cab also features a forward-inclined windshield.
From an operational standpoint, the larger cab may be especially relevant for producers who operate smaller high-horsepower tractors during extended planting, spraying and harvesting seasons. It provides the interior dimensions of Massey Ferguson’s larger tractors without requiring the operator to move to the heavier 8S platform.
Datatronic 6 With 12-Inch Display
The 7S Mark 2 introduces the new Datatronic 6 terminal, replacing the 9-inch Datatronic 5 display with a 12-inch touchscreen. The updated system provides additional display area and a configurable interface, allowing operators to arrange information windows according to their preferred working layout. The terminal can also display up to four camera feeds simultaneously.
This functionality may be useful when monitoring mounted implements, rear visibility or multiple working areas around the tractor. The additional screen area is also relevant for precision agriculture applications where guidance information, implement settings and tractor operating parameters must be monitored together.
AutoTurn Headland Control
The new terminal supports AutoTurn, Massey Ferguson’s automated headland turning function. The system is designed to execute programmed turns at the end of field passes, reducing the amount of manual steering required during repetitive operations. Automated headland turning can support more consistent field coverage, particularly where tractors operate with wide implements. Its practical effectiveness depends on accurately configured field boundaries, implement dimensions and turning parameters.
The Datatronic 6 terminal is standard on Exclusive configurations and optional on Efficient models.
Efficient and Exclusive Trim Levels
Massey Ferguson will offer the new tractors in Efficient and Exclusive configurations. The Efficient version uses mechanical hydraulic control valves as standard equipment, with certain adjustments located on the side console. These include linkage settings, work lighting and climate controls. The Datatronic 6 terminal can be specified as an option.
Exclusive tractors receive the 12-inch Datatronic 6 display as standard, together with electronically controlled hydraulic valves. This arrangement provides more tractor functions through the main display and electronic controls. The distinction allows buyers to select between a more conventional control layout and a more extensively integrated electronic operating environment.
ISRI Seats and Keyless Starting
The cab updates extend beyond the display and control systems. In addition to the established Grammer seating options, Massey Ferguson is introducing two ISRI seat configurations. The highest-specification seat includes electric adjustment, massage functions and a memory system capable of storing settings for three operators. This feature is particularly relevant for machinery operated by multiple drivers during seasonal work.
The side-window wiper motor has also been repositioned, increasing available space for seat rotation. The updated wiper covers a larger portion of the glass.
Optional keyless operation allows the tractor to be unlocked using a remote transmitter and started using a push button. The transmitter must remain inside the cab for the tractor to start and operate. Other available features include a storage compartment with cooling and heating functions.
Massey Ferguson is also introducing an optional audio system that uses vibration elements near the steering column to transmit low-frequency sound through the windshield. The arrangement effectively uses the windshield as part of the audio system rather than relying exclusively on conventional loudspeakers.
MF 7S Mark 2 vs. Existing 7S
The new tractor series creates a distinct intermediate platform in Massey Ferguson’s lineup.
Several mechanical and electronic differences separate it from the existing MF 7S.
| Feature | Existing MF 7S | New MF 7S Mark 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum power | Up to 220 hp with EPM | Up to 245 hp without boost |
| Engine displacement | 6.6 liters | 7.5 liters |
| Engine family | AGCO Power | AGCO Power CORE75 |
| Transmission | Dyna-6 or Dyna-VT, depending on model | Dyna-VT only |
| Wheelbase | Approx. 2,880 mm | 2,950 mm |
| Main touchscreen | Datatronic 5, 9 inches | Datatronic 6, 12 inches |
| Cab architecture | Original 7S | Shared with 8S and 9S |
| Rear lift capacity | 9,600 kg | 9,600 kg |
| Maximum hydraulic flow | 190 L/min | 190 L/min |
| Maximum fuel capacity | 328 liters | 410 liters |
| Engine power boost | Available | Not required |
The existing 7S figures reflect the relevant European configurations. Available specifications can vary by market.
The technical comparison shows that Massey Ferguson has concentrated much of the investment in the engine, chassis, driveline and operator environment.
Rear linkage capacity and maximum hydraulic output remain unchanged.
This creates an important distinction for prospective buyers.
Farmers whose existing 7S tractors already provide sufficient engine power and hydraulic capacity may find that the new cab, fuel capacity and operating characteristics are the primary reasons to consider the Mark 2.
Operations that regularly require more than 200 hp may benefit more directly from the additional continuous engine output, provided the tractor is correctly matched to the implement.
The new model also provides an alternative for customers who need the performance and operator environment associated with larger tractors but do not require the additional mass of an 8S.
EIMA 2026 Debut and 2027 Deliveries
