Massey Ferguson Returns as Direct Exhibitor at National Ploughing Championships

Massey Ferguson has confirmed its direct participation in the 2025 National Ploughing Championships, taking place from September 16 to 18 in Ratheniska, County Laois, Ireland. The move marks its return as a manufacturer-led exhibitor rather than relying solely on local dealers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to Irish farmers at a time of rising tractor demand.

In recent years, the number of tractor manufacturers with their own stands had noticeably declined, with many brands represented only by dealership partners. Massey Ferguson’s return ensures that its latest machines will be displayed with ample space for visitors to explore the lineup and engage directly with the brand.

New Holland also expanded its presence through Cashel-based dealer M&S Machinery, which showcased a broader tractor range alongside its loader business. Kubota underscored its focus on material handling by promoting the R090 pivot-steer loader. Merlo and Manitou further emphasized telehandler solutions, with Manitou highlighting its Smart Weighing System that provides accurate load data regardless of boom position.

Slurry technology was another key theme. While demand for tankers has slowed after years of fleet upgrades, companies such as Mastek and Slurryquip are now pushing slurry separation systems to increase storage efficiency. Other Irish manufacturers, including McHale and Nugent, highlighted innovations such as ISOBUS integration and expanded trailer lines. International exhibitors, including China’s Shantui, also signaled the global reach of the show.

Innovation played a central role, with highlights including the Hibra electric tractor commissioned for peatland use and the iTarra autonomous tractor, developed in Ireland with a 150 hp Caterpillar engine. A dedicated display of classic and vintage tractors provided historical perspective, showing just how far farm mechanization has progressed.
