Kioti Compact Excavator

Kioti Enters the Compact Excavator Market with New MX Series Machines Unveiled at CONEXPO 2026

Kioti has officially entered the compact excavator segment following the debut of its first mini excavator lineup during the recently concluded CONEXPO CON-AGG 2026 in Las Vegas. The South Korean manufacturer introduced three machines under a new MX Series platform: the MX350 A, MX350 AE, and MX570 A.

The move represents a significant expansion for Kioti, a brand that has historically focused on compact and utility tractors but has gradually broadened its equipment portfolio in recent years. By launching mini excavators, the company is stepping into one of the most competitive and fastest-growing categories of the compact construction equipment market.

Mini excavators in the three to six ton class have seen strong demand globally during the past decade. Contractors increasingly rely on these machines for utility installation, landscaping, residential construction, drainage work, and urban infrastructure projects where larger excavators are impractical.

Kioti MX Series Mini Excavators Target the Core Compact Equipment Market

The three machines presented at CONEXPO appear designed to cover the most widely used operating weight categories in compact excavation.

The MX350 A and MX350 AE are positioned in the roughly 3.5 ton class, which is commonly used by landscaping contractors, property maintenance crews, and residential builders. Machines in this category offer a balance between transportability and digging performance, allowing operators to move equipment on lighter trailers while still maintaining sufficient breakout force for trenching and foundation work.

The MX570 A represents the larger end of Kioti’s initial lineup and moves into the approximately five to six ton segment. This class is widely considered one of the most versatile sizes in compact excavation, offering a substantial increase in lifting capacity, reach, and digging power while still remaining easy to transport between job sites.

At the time of the unveiling, Kioti had not yet published full technical specifications for the new machines. However, the MX570 A appears to be designed to compete directly with established models in the same size class.

Kioti MX570 A Likely Competes with Kubota and Bobcat Mid Size Mini Excavators

Based on the machine’s size and positioning, the MX570 A appears comparable to excavators such as the Kubota KX057 series or Bobcat E55.

Machines in this segment typically operate in the 5.5 to 6 ton range and provide a substantial performance step above smaller compact excavators. Contractors often choose this class because it offers a strong balance between productivity and mobility.

Typical specifications for excavators in this category include operating weights around 5,500 to 6,000 kilograms, digging depths approaching 3.5 to 4 meters, and hydraulic systems capable of supporting attachments such as augers, hydraulic breakers, and grading buckets.

Because Kioti has not yet released full performance data for the MX570 A, precise comparisons will only become possible once official specifications are published.

MX350 A and MX350 AE Designed for Tight Job Sites and Utility Work

The smaller MX350 machines are expected to serve applications where maneuverability and transport convenience are critical.

Excavators in the 3.5 ton class are frequently used for residential construction, utility trenching, landscaping work, irrigation installation, and municipal maintenance projects. Their compact dimensions allow them to operate efficiently in confined environments such as urban streets, backyards, or infrastructure repair sites.

The presence of two models within the same size class suggests Kioti may offer different configurations or technology packages between the MX350 A and MX350 AE variants, though the company has not yet clarified the exact differences between the two versions.

Kioti Expands Its Equipment Strategy Beyond Tractors

The introduction of the MX Series highlights Kioti’s continued expansion beyond its traditional agricultural machinery focus.

Compact excavators represent a natural extension for manufacturers that already produce compact tractors, loaders, and utility vehicles. Many customers who operate tractors for landscaping, agriculture, or property maintenance also require compact excavation equipment, making this segment a logical addition to dealer product portfolios.

For Kioti’s global dealer network, the addition of mini excavators creates opportunities to offer a broader range of equipment solutions to contractors and property owners.

The compact construction equipment sector itself continues to grow rapidly as infrastructure upgrades, urban development, and labor shortages increase demand for versatile machines capable of performing multiple tasks on a single job site.

About Kioti

Kioti is the international brand of Daedong Corporation, a South Korean agricultural machinery manufacturer founded in 1947.

Over the past two decades the company has significantly expanded its presence in North America and other global markets, particularly in the compact tractor segment.

Key company highlights:

  • More than 75 years of machinery manufacturing experience.
  • Distribution networks covering over 60 countries.
  • A growing lineup of compact and utility tractors ranging from subcompact models to machines exceeding 140 horsepower.
  • Expanding product categories that now include utility vehicles, attachments, and compact construction equipment.

The debut of the MX Series mini excavators indicates that Kioti intends to compete more directly with full line equipment manufacturers by offering a broader equipment ecosystem to both agricultural and construction customers.

If the company continues to expand this product range, the MX Series could become the foundation for a much larger construction equipment portfolio in the coming years.
