John Deere has expanded its specialist tractor lineup with the launch of the new 5EN narrow tractor series, developed specifically for orchards, vineyards, top fruit operations, polytunnels, and other confined working environments where maneuverability is critical but power requirements remain demanding.
Positioned between the existing 5GN and 5GF ranges, the 5EN series strengthens John Deere’s high value crop portfolio by offering an additional balance of width, horsepower, and specification flexibility. The new models are manufactured at John Deere’s production facility in Mexico and are aimed at professional growers seeking compact dimensions without compromising modern features or performance.
5EN Narrow Tractors Designed for High Value Crop Operations
The 5EN range consists of three models, each tailored to different power needs within narrow row farming. Entry level machines focus on compactness and efficiency, while higher output versions are intended for heavier implements and more demanding PTO and hydraulic applications.
Transmission choices are familiar to operators of John Deere’s 5E series, with PowrReverser gearboxes available in multiple configurations. These options allow growers to match ground speed and control to tasks such as spraying, mowing, cultivation, and harvesting operations carried out in restricted spaces.
Compact overall width is a core advantage. Depending on tyre selection and track adjustment, the smaller models can be configured to work in rows little more than 1.3 meters wide, while the top model maintains a narrow footprint relative to its power class.

Updated Cab, Hydraulics, and Digital Features for Orchard Work
Compared with previous narrow tractor generations, the new 5EN machines introduce several functional upgrades. Electronic control of the rear three point linkage improves precision when working with mounted implements, while optional front hitch capability extends versatility for growers using front mounted tools.
Operator comfort and usability have also been improved through a standard four post cab on most models, programmable engine speed memory, and a large digital display. Integrated JDLink connectivity enables remote monitoring and fleet management, aligning the 5EN series with John Deere’s broader precision and connected farming ecosystem.
