DEUTZ-FAHR 8340 TTV

First Customer-Delivered DEUTZ-FAHR 8340 TTV Reaches Germany

DEUTZ-FAHR has marked an important commercial milestone for its new high-horsepower tractor range with the handover of the first customer-delivered 8340 TTV in Germany.

According to DEUTZ-FAHR Deutschland, the tractor was delivered to the Wolf family in Belz, making it the first 8340 TTV handed over to a customer in the German market. The delivery moves the recently introduced Series 8 flagship from product launch and demonstration activity into real farm operation.

The 8340 TTV is currently the most powerful model in DEUTZ-FAHR’s new Series 8 lineup, producing up to 340 hp and 1,398 Nm of maximum torque.

340 HP FPT Engine

One of the biggest changes in the latest Series 8 is under the hood.

The 8340 TTV uses an FPT N67 six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 6.7 liters. Maximum output is rated at 250 kW, or 340 hp, while maximum torque reaches 1,398 Nm. The engine uses an electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger, or eVGT, together with DEUTZ-FAHR’s Stage V emissions package based on HI-eSCR2 and a diesel oxidation catalyst.

The engine architecture is particularly notable because it operates without EGR. DEUTZ-FAHR says this approach is intended to reduce thermal load while supporting fuel efficiency and engine response.

Another practical specification is the 1,000-hour engine oil service interval. The N67 is also approved for HVO renewable diesel, giving operators another fuel option where HVO is commercially available.

Fuel capacity is 570 liters, accompanied by a 65-liter AdBlue tank.

TTV CVT Transmission

Power is transferred through the Terramatic TMT 32 TTV continuously variable transmission.

The transmission uses four automatically managed ranges and provides stepless travel from standstill to 60 km/h. One of its more significant engineering features is the ability to maintain road speed at relatively low engine rpm.

At 40 km/h, the tractor can travel at approximately 1,190 rpm. The specification rises to about 1,485 rpm at 50 km/h and 1,785 rpm at 60 km/h.

That matters because high-horsepower tractors often accumulate substantial transport hours moving implements between fields. Reducing engine speed during road work can translate directly into lower fuel consumption, reduced noise and less drivetrain stress.

The transmission also includes PowerZero, which holds the tractor stationary without requiring the operator to continuously use the brake pedal, along with Auto, Advanced-Auto, PTO and Manual driving strategies.

220 L/Min Hydraulics

The 8340 TTV is designed for implements that demand significant hydraulic capacity.

A 160-liter-per-minute load-sensing hydraulic pump is standard, while a 220-liter-per-minute system is available as an option. Rear three-point hitch capacity reaches 12,000 kg, and the optional front linkage can lift up to 5,450 kg.

Rear PTO speeds include 540 ECO, 1,000 and 1,000 ECO, while the front PTO can be configured with 1,000 rpm or a dual-speed 1,000/1,000 ECO system.

These specifications position the tractor for more than conventional draft work. The hydraulic output and hitch capacities make the 8340 TTV suitable for large seed drills, combination implements, high-capacity cultivators and other equipment where hydraulic demand can become just as important as engine horsepower.

New SigmaVision Cab

DEUTZ-FAHR has also substantially redesigned the operator environment.

The 8340 TTV receives the four-post SigmaVision cab with pneumatic suspension. A 15-inch iCluster display replaces a more conventional instrument panel, while major tractor functions are managed through the iControl armrest.

The tractor has a 3,057 mm wheelbase and can be equipped with rear tires as large as 900/60 R42, 750/70 R44 or 710/75 R42, depending on configuration. Gross vehicle weight is rated at up to 17,500 kg in the 60 km/h specification.

The combination of a relatively compact wheelbase for this power category, high-capacity tires and suspended front axle suggests that DEUTZ-FAHR has deliberately tried to retain maneuverability rather than simply building a heavier conventional high-horsepower tractor.

A Different High-Horsepower Strategy

The first German customer delivery is more significant than a ceremonial handover because the 8340 TTV represents a noticeable change in DEUTZ-FAHR’s approach to the upper end of its tractor lineup.

Rather than competing purely through higher engine output, the new Series 8 places considerable emphasis on power density, transport efficiency, digital controls and the ability to combine 340 hp with a comparatively maneuverable chassis.

From a technical perspective, that may be the 8340 TTV’s strongest argument.

At 340 hp, it enters a segment where tractors are frequently paired with increasingly wide and complex implements, yet farms still expect the same machine to handle road transport and jobs where excessive size becomes a disadvantage. The 3.06-meter wheelbase, CVT transmission and 220 l/min hydraulic option give DEUTZ-FAHR a credible way to target operators who want high horsepower without immediately moving into the largest articulated or heavyweight conventional tractor platforms.

The move to the FPT N67 is equally important. DEUTZ-FAHR is not simply updating the previous tractor with more electronics. The engine, cooling package, transmission management, cab architecture and digital interface indicate a broader redesign of the company’s high-horsepower platform.

The real test will now come from tractors such as this first German customer machine. Fuel consumption under heavy draft load, transmission behavior over long operating days, electronics reliability and residual value will ultimately matter more to farmers than launch specifications.

About DEUTZ-FAHR

DEUTZ-FAHR is one of the principal agricultural machinery brands of SDF, the Italian manufacturer headquartered in Treviglio. SDF also markets machinery under the SAME, Hürlimann, Grégoire and VitiBot brands and operates eight production sites, 17 sales subsidiaries, two joint ventures and a distribution network of more than 3,100 dealers worldwide.

High-horsepower DEUTZ-FAHR tractors are produced at the company’s Lauingen facility in Germany. The DEUTZ-FAHR Land plant, opened as part of a major investment program beginning in 2017, is dedicated to tractors with outputs reaching 340 hp.

SDF reported revenue of €1.412 billion in 2025 and employed 3,774 people at year-end. The group recorded an EBITDA margin of 8.4 percent and invested €66 million, equivalent to 4.7 percent of revenue, in research and development.

Despite a roughly 9 percent contraction in its reference global tractor market during 2025, SDF increased its worldwide tractor market share to 10.6 percent and its European share to 11.4 percent. In the European specialty tractor segment, its share reached 26.9 percent.
