Fendt has officially introduced the fifth generation of its 800 Vario series, bringing new levels of power, operator comfort and efficiency to the mid to high horsepower tractor segment. The lineup includes three models, the 826, 829 and 832, covering a power band from 260 to 343 horsepower.
A walkaround of the eagerly anticipated 800 Vario is planned for AGRITECHNICA later this year, where farmers and contractors will have the first opportunity to see the new series up close.
Powertrain and Efficiency
At the center of the 800 Gen5 is Fendt’s 8.0 liter six cylinder CORE80 engine. Designed with fuel efficiency and sustainability in mind, the engine is compatible with HVO100 and other alternative fuels certified under DIN 15940 standards, allowing operators to cut CO₂ emissions without sacrificing performance.
Fendt combines the CORE80 with its single stage VarioDrive transmission, first introduced on the 1000 Vario series. This pairing delivers permanent independent four wheel drive and smooth torque transfer between field and road work. Operators no longer need to shift manually, traction is maximized, and turning circles are shortened thanks to the pull in turn effect.
The tractors also include the Fendt iD low engine speed concept, which focuses on high torque at lower revs. At just 950 rpm the machine reaches 40 km/h, at 1,200 rpm it reaches 50 km/h, and at 1,450 rpm it achieves the top speed of 60 km/h. This saves fuel, reduces engine wear and lowers cab noise.
DynamicPerformance technology adds another 23 horsepower when extra power is needed.
Weight, Hydraulics and Implements
The 800 Gen5 has an operating weight of 9.9 tonnes and a maximum permissible weight of 17.5 tonnes, which gives it a payload capacity of 7.6 tonnes. This makes the tractor suitable for a wide range of implements, backed by a versatile hydraulic system.
Operators can configure up to six rear control units on Profi and Profi+ specifications and up to two at the front. Power+ models support up to five rear valves with one at the front. Pump options include 165 l/min, 220 l/min, or a dual pump system that delivers 385 l/min for demanding implements. Power Beyond and FFC flat sealing couplings are available to prevent contamination and oil leaks.
Safety, Chassis and Braking
The 800 Gen5 comes with Fendt Reaction Steering, Stability Control and Trailer Brake Assistant. These systems improve safety when towing sprayers or heavy trailers, especially on hilly ground, by reducing the risk of jack knifing or drifting. Buyers can also choose an exhaust brake combined with a hydraulic auxiliary brake for stronger stopping power.
Operator Comfort and Technology
The new cab is available in two versions, Vision and UltraVision. Depending on the choice, operators can equip up to 12 dimmable LED spotlights producing 4,400 lumens each. An optional GroundVision light illuminates the rear drawbar, making nighttime implement changes easier.
Inside the cab, FendtONE provides a modern workstation with up to three displays in Profi and Profi+ versions. Comfort features include heated laminated safety glass for the windshield, a titanium leather memory seat, and Apple CarPlay for seamless device integration.
Cooling and ventilation are handled by the Concentric Air System, with an optional reversible fan. Operators can also specify a self cleaning air filter with automatic control, reducing downtime.
Availability
The Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 will soon be available in Power+, Profi and Profi+ configurations, giving buyers flexibility to tailor the tractor to their operation. AGRITECHNICA 2025 will serve as the public debut, showcasing Fendt’s latest advancements in the high horsepower segment.
