Fendt has used the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, for the global launch of its new 1100 Vario MT Gen2 tracked tractor range, extending the series to 680 hp and giving the AGCO brand a substantially stronger machine for high-horsepower tillage, seeding and heavy drawbar applications.
The launch is particularly significant for Fendt because it is the company’s first global tractor introduction staged in the United States. The 1100 Vario MT Gen2 made its public debut alongside the new 80-foot Fendt Momentum planter and the North American introduction of the Fendt 300 Vario Gen5.
At the top of the new range sits the Fendt 1167 Vario MT Gen2, a 680-hp machine that had previously been shown to Tractor of the Year judges ahead of its official launch. It becomes the most powerful tractor in the Fendt lineup equipped with the company’s VarioDrive continuously variable transmission.
Fendt 1100 Vario MT Gen2 Power
The new generation consists of four models:

The first three tractors use a 15.3-liter MAN D38 six-cylinder diesel. The flagship 1167 moves to the larger 16.2-liter MAN D42 six-cylinder engine.
Fendt rates the 1167 at 680 hp under ECE R120, with maximum torque reaching 3,100 Nm, or approximately 2,286 lb-ft. All four engines operate at a rated speed of only 1,700 rpm as part of the Fendt iD low-speed engine concept.
That low-rpm strategy is central to the tractor’s design. Instead of relying on high engine speeds to produce maximum output, Fendt combines large-displacement MAN engines with the stepless transmission and Tractor Management System to keep the engine in an efficient operating range under changing loads.
VarioDrive Track Tractor
One of the more important technical features is the continuation of Fendt’s stepless drivetrain into this horsepower class.
The tractors use the reinforced TA400T VarioDrive transmission. Fendt describes the 1100 Vario MT Gen2 as the first tracked tractor in the class up to 680 hp to combine this level of output with a stepless transmission.
Top speed is 40 km/h, approximately 25 mph, with the engine turning 1,550 rpm at that speed. A 1000/1000E rear PTO is also available.
For operators, the advantage is less about having a conventional set of gear ranges and more about allowing the tractor to continuously balance engine speed and transmission ratio according to load. That is particularly relevant when a large implement moves between changing soil conditions and varying draft loads.
Mobil-Trac Track System
Power reaches the ground through Fendt’s Mobil-Trac System, or MTS, two-track undercarriage.
The distance between the drive wheel and front idler is 3,000 mm, or about 118 inches, providing a long ground contact area intended to distribute tractor weight while maintaining traction.
Standard tracks are 27.5 inches wide, with 27.5-inch Extreme AG and 36-inch track options also listed. In its standard configuration, overall tractor width is 2,979 mm, or just under 9.8 feet.
Unlike a conventional rigid track frame, the tractor uses Fendt SmartRide suspension. SmartRide+ adds hydraulic self-leveling, helping maintain suspension travel when the tractor is working with heavy rear-mounted or drawbar implements.
Fendt has also combined the track suspension with a four-point suspended cab, addressing one of the traditional compromises associated with high-horsepower tracked tractors: operator comfort during long field days and transport.
Active Implement Steering
A particularly interesting change on the Gen2 machine concerns the connection between tractor steering and the implement.
According to AGCO, the steerable drawbar or three-point hitch can now move in response to steering input. The objective is to increase maneuverability and maintain tractive performance during turns rather than forcing the tractor to overcome as much lateral resistance from the implement.
That is relevant on a two-track tractor because steering is achieved through differential track speed. Anything that reduces resistance between the tractor and a large implement during the turn can potentially reduce soil disturbance and improve headland behavior.
The system fits with one of the themes Fendt emphasized during development: getting high horsepower to the ground without simply adding weight or accepting greater soil damage.
440 L/Min Hydraulics
Large planters, air seeders and other high-demand implements can also place substantial requirements on the hydraulic system.
The 1100 Vario MT Gen2 comes with a 220-liter-per-minute load-sensing system, equivalent to roughly 58 gallons per minute. An optional dual-pump system increases total flow to 440 l/min, approximately 116 gpm.
Up to eight rear hydraulic valves are listed, while Power Beyond is available for supplying implements directly. Rear three-point continuous lift capacity is rated at 9,072 kg, about 20,000 pounds, measured according to the OECD standard 610 mm behind the coupling point.
Fuel capacity is 1,370 liters, approximately 362 gallons, accompanied by a 141-liter DEF tank.
FendtONE Cab
Gen2 also receives a completely redesigned cab built around the FendtONE operating environment.
The new control layout brings Fendt’s current tractor interface into the tracked range, while a 360-degree lighting package uses up to 12 LED work lights integrated into the cab roof. Fendt also offers Vision and UltraVision lighting configurations.
A new passive cab air-filter cleaning system continually removes accumulated dust, reducing the frequency of manual cleaning in high-dust jobs such as tillage and seeding.
Other available cab equipment includes an air-suspended and ventilated premium seat with massage and memory functions, a 36-degree right-hand swivel and a compressor-cooled storage compartment.
The changes make the Gen2 update considerably broader than a horsepower increase. Fendt has effectively moved the 1100 MT onto the same electronics, operator interface and drivetrain philosophy now being deployed across its latest-generation wheeled tractors.
1167 Vario MT Targets the 700-HP Class
At 680 hp, the 1167 Vario MT puts Fendt directly into one of the fastest-expanding areas of the high-horsepower tractor market.
Its approach differs from the increasingly common four-track articulated layout. Fendt has retained the two-track configuration and is instead emphasizing a long contact area, suspended undercarriage, stepless drivetrain and active interaction between the tractor and implement.
The basic tractor weighs 19,731 kg, approximately 43,500 pounds, with a maximum permissible gross weight of 26,762 kg, or roughly 59,000 pounds. Overall length is 6,758 mm, or about 22.2 feet.
For operations that spend the majority of their time pulling wide tillage tools, air seeders and other heavy implements in the field, that combination gives Fendt a distinctly different alternative to high-horsepower articulated tractors.
Fendt 1100 Vario MT Availability
Fendt says the 1100 Vario MT Gen2 is available to order now, with first customer deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.
In North America, tractors are also covered by Fendt Gold Star Customer Care for three years or 3,000 operating hours, including scheduled maintenance, warranty coverage, parts support and loaner availability under the program.
The decision to hold the tractor’s global launch in Iowa is itself notable. AGCO Senior Vice President Stefan Caspari said the location reflects the company’s investment in North America and the importance that farmers in the region place on power, productivity, operating efficiency and total ownership cost.
