Fendt Dealer Representation at Johnston Tractors

Fendt Ends Dealer Representation at Johnston Tractors Locations in Northern England and Scotland

Fendt has formally withdrawn from the Carlisle, Penrith, and Dumfries outlets operated by Johnston Tractors, marking a notable change in the brand’s dealer landscape across northern England and southern Scotland.

Johnston Tractors Concludes Fendt Sales and Support Activities

By mutual agreement with AGCO and Fendt, Johnston Tractors has ceased the promotion, sale, and aftersales support of Fendt machinery at all three locations. The decision applies immediately, with a structured transition period now under way to ensure existing Fendt customers continue to receive uninterrupted service.

Johnston Tractors has confirmed that its business strategy will now focus fully on the promotion and support of Valtra machinery, another AGCO-owned brand with a strong footprint in the UK and Nordic-influenced markets.

Fendt Dealer Territory to Be Reallocated

Fendt has stated that the territory previously covered by Johnston Tractors will be redistributed among existing and neighbouring Fendt dealers. Further details regarding new dealer responsibilities and coverage boundaries are expected to be announced shortly.

The manufacturer also acknowledged the contribution of the Johnston Tractors team in developing the Fendt brand locally and wished the business success in its future direction.

Why Fendt and Johnston Tractors Parted Ways

From a market perspective, this move reflects a broader trend within premium tractor brands toward tighter dealer networks with higher volume thresholds and stronger specialization. Fendt operates in the upper end of the tractor market, where consistent investment in demo fleets, digital sales tools, and highly trained service staff is essential.

In mixed-brand dealerships, strategic focus often becomes critical. Valtra and Fendt target different customer profiles, and concentrating on a single core brand can improve operational efficiency, parts stocking, and sales clarity. For Johnston Tractors, narrowing its portfolio likely allows deeper specialization and better return on investment, while Fendt gains the opportunity to strengthen representation through dealers fully aligned with its premium positioning.
