Fendt 942 Wildfire Fighting Vehicle

Fendt 942 Transformed Into High Capacity Wildfire Fighting Vehicle at INTERSCHUTZ 2026

According to Fendt Deutschland, citing Dutch specialist Kenbri, the new wildfire response vehicle was presented during INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hannover.

The Fendt 942 Vario has been adapted into a specialized wildfire and vegetation fire suppression vehicle by Dutch emergency equipment manufacturer Kenbri. Unveiled at INTERSCHUTZ 2026, the machine combines the mobility of a high horsepower agricultural tractor with a purpose built firefighting system capable of operating in difficult off road conditions where conventional fire trucks often struggle.

The concept reflects a growing trend toward using powerful agricultural platforms for emergency response in forests, grasslands, and remote rural areas where soft ground, steep terrain, and limited access roads can slow traditional firefighting vehicles.

7,000 Liter Firefighting System

At the center of the conversion is a 7,000 liter water tank integrated with high capacity firefighting equipment. The vehicle is equipped with remotely controlled water monitors that can be operated directly from inside the cab, allowing crews to attack fires while minimizing exposure to extreme heat and smoke.

Kenbri also offers an optional protected cab designed to improve crew survivability when operating close to advancing wildfire fronts.

Another notable feature is the reversible driving station. By allowing the operator to quickly change driving direction, the tractor can rapidly leave hazardous areas without turning around, an important advantage when fire conditions change unexpectedly.

Fendt 942 Specifications

The firefighting vehicle is based on the Fendt 942 Vario, one of the flagship models in Fendt’s 900 Vario series.

The production tractor is powered by a 9.0 liter MAN six cylinder engine producing up to 415 hp. Power is transmitted through Fendt’s continuously variable VarioDrive transmission, which automatically distributes torque between the front and rear axles for maximum traction without requiring mechanical range shifts.

The tractor is also equipped with the FendtONE operating environment, independent front suspension, and a high performance hydraulic system capable of supporting demanding auxiliary equipment. These characteristics make the platform well suited for carrying heavy firefighting modules while maintaining excellent mobility across rough terrain.

Off Road Fire Response

Unlike conventional firefighting trucks that rely on paved roads and established forest tracks, high horsepower agricultural tractors provide exceptional flotation, ground clearance, and traction on soft soils, sand, mud, and harvested fields.

Large diameter agricultural tires also reduce ground pressure, allowing the vehicle to reach fire zones that may be inaccessible to heavier commercial trucks. Combined with high transport speeds and substantial payload capacity, this approach offers emergency services an increasingly attractive solution for protecting forests and agricultural landscapes during severe wildfire seasons.
