Forestry equipment manufacturer EQUUS will hold a live field demonstration of its new EQUUS 135 UN skidder on June 25, 2026, at the Kysyhýbeľ logging area near Halčianske Lake in Slovakia. The event will give forestry contractors, logging professionals, and machine operators an opportunity to see the company’s latest compact skidder working in real forest conditions.
The demonstration comes shortly after the official introduction of the model, which is positioned as a lightweight and highly maneuverable machine designed for thinning operations and timber extraction in dense forest stands.
Compact Design for Dense Forests
One of the key characteristics of the EQUUS 135 UN is its compact footprint. The machine weighs approximately 7,950 kg and starts at just 2.2 meters in width depending on tire configuration. According to the manufacturer, the design focuses on minimizing disturbance in selective logging operations while maintaining the pulling power required for commercial forestry work.
The skidder features a wheelbase of 2,780 mm, a low center of gravity, and articulated steering geometry intended to improve stability and maneuverability on uneven terrain. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for operations where larger forestry machines may struggle to access timber efficiently.
Cummins Powertrain
Power comes from a Cummins B4.5 Stage V diesel engine producing 129 kW (175 hp) and up to 780 Nm of torque. The four cylinder engine is paired with a hydrostatic transmission featuring two mechanical ranges and a maximum travel speed of 40 km/h in both forward and reverse directions.
The drivetrain is designed to deliver strong tractive performance, with the manufacturer specifying a pulling force of 105 kN. The machine can also switch between 4×4 and 4×2 drive modes depending on operating requirements.
Winch and Hydraulic Equipment
A major component of the EQUUS 135 UN is the company’s in house developed EQUUS 2BN dual drum winch. The system delivers a pulling force of up to 2 × 12 tonnes and can accommodate up to 120 meters of 14 mm cable per drum. Remote control operation allows operators to manage winch functions, engine speed, and other machine controls from a distance during timber extraction.
The machine can also be equipped with a MESERA F81 RT68i hydraulic crane offering a lifting moment of 93 kNm and a reach of 6.8 meters, expanding its versatility beyond conventional skidding applications.
Live Demonstration Planned
Visitors attending the June 25 event are expected to see the machine operating in practical forestry conditions rather than in a static display environment. Demonstrations like this are increasingly important as forestry contractors evaluate equipment based on productivity, environmental impact, and operator efficiency rather than engine power alone.
