At the 2025 Farm Progress Show, Case IH unveiled the return of a legend: the Farmall M Series utility tractor. The new line combines the iconic look and spirit of the original Farmall Super M with the engineering, comfort, and precision expected from modern machines.
The original Farmall M ended production in 1954, remembered as a breakthrough in utility tractor design. Now, seven decades later, Case IH has brought back the badge with a tractor that bridges history and modern performance.
Performance and Capacity
The new Farmall M Series comes in two models rated at 110 and 120 horsepower, positioning it at the premium end of the Farmall utility range. Both machines use a four-cylinder diesel engine delivering strong torque for loader work and heavy-duty field tasks.
Compared to the Farmall A and C Series, the M Series offers a clear step up:
- Rear hitch lift capacity: up to 11,000 pounds (vs. 8,000 lbs. on the A Series).
- Hydraulic flow: significantly higher to support demanding implements.
- Heavy-duty axles: designed to handle greater loads and improve stability.
Case IH emphasizes the versatility of the M Series. From powering augers to handling seed boxes or operating wing mowers, the tractors are sized for livestock producers, hay operators, and diversified farms looking for a strong, mid-range workhorse.
Operator Experience and Technology
The cab has been redesigned for both visibility and comfort. A wide front window improves sightlines for loader operations, while a stitched heritage IH logo on the seat reinforces the nod to the past.
The M Series also integrates advanced features found across the Case IH utility lineup:
- 16×16 semi-powershift transmission with ActiveClutch II, allowing operators to slow or stop using only the brake pedal.
- Integrated joystick control mounted with the seat for smoother loader work.
- Digital display and telematics for real-time machine monitoring and remote connectivity.
- Redesigned hydraulic controls for efficiency and operator comfort.
“With ActiveClutch II, you no longer need to ‘dance’ between clutch and brake,” explains Leo Bose, livestock application and harvesting lead at Case IH. “It makes loader work far more consistent across different operators and reduces fatigue.”
A Legacy Reimagined
The Farmall brand was introduced in the 1920s and quickly became a household name in North American agriculture. The M Series, first released in the 1940s, was one of the most popular utility tractors of its era. Its balance of power and versatility helped define the modern row-crop tractor.
Today’s new Farmall M Series carries that legacy forward, sitting at the top tier of Case IH’s utility tractor family alongside the A and C Series. With a mix of historical design cues and modern productivity technology, it is positioned to appeal to both heritage-minded farmers and those seeking efficient, mid-range horsepower solutions.
