The next generation Terratrac introduces a redesigned driveline, higher lifting performance, and a modern operator environment while preserving Aebi’s reputation for safe operation on steep terrain.
More power for slope mowing
Aebi has officially introduced the new Terratrac TT 212, marking the next chapter in the company’s renowned line of specialized implement carriers. Launched during the 50th anniversary of the Terratrac platform, the TT 212 succeeds the TT 211+ with a clear engineering focus on three priorities: increased performance, improved operator comfort, and enhanced safety for demanding hillside applications.
Rather than being a simple update, the TT 212 receives significant mechanical revisions throughout the chassis, driveline, hydraulic system, and operator station.
Kubota engine and hydrostatic drive
Power comes from a 75.3 hp (55.4 kW) Kubota four cylinder diesel engine, delivering higher output for mowing, municipal maintenance, snow removal, and other year round applications.
One of the biggest technical changes is an entirely new continuously variable drive system. Instead of using a traditional range gearbox, the TT 212 employs an electronically controlled hydrostatic transmission that provides smooth speed control across the operating range.
The new drivetrain is complemented by integrated planetary wheel hub final drives, which improve power transfer while also increasing ground clearance, an important advantage when operating on uneven alpine terrain or crossing obstacles.
Stronger hydraulics and higher lift capacity
Aebi has substantially upgraded the machine’s hydraulic performance.
The front linkage now delivers up to 30% greater lifting performance, reaching a maximum lift capacity of 1,700 kg (3,748 lb). Operators also benefit from a parallel side shift system with up to 250 mm (9.8 inches) of movement in each direction, allowing implements to be positioned more precisely when working close to field edges, roadside embankments, vineyards, or steep slopes.
The rear three point hitch has also been strengthened, with lift capacity increasing by approximately 40% to the same 1,700 kg rating.
Improved braking and ride quality
Safety remains one of the defining characteristics of the Terratrac platform.
The TT 212 features newly developed axles together with a redesigned mounting system that isolates the engine, cab, and chassis more effectively. This reduces vibration reaching the operator while improving overall vehicle stability.
Braking performance has also been upgraded through the adoption of internally mounted wet multi disc brakes, a solution widely recognized for durability, consistent braking force, and reduced maintenance compared with conventional dry brake systems.
Modern cab and controls
The operator environment has been completely modernized by adopting the control philosophy used on Aebi’s larger Terratrac and transporter models.
A 12 inch touchscreen display serves as the central interface, while the multifunction driving lever integrated into the armrest allows intuitive machine control with minimal hand movement.
Additional improvements include:
- Fully isolated mounting for the engine, chassis, and cab.
- Newly designed cooling and fan system.
- Updated climate control with improved air distribution.
- Lower vibration and noise levels for extended working comfort.
Together, these updates are intended to reduce operator fatigue during long working days in challenging terrain.
Production schedule
Aebi plans to begin production of the Terratrac TT 212 later this year. The company has already opened its order books, allowing customers to reserve the new machine ahead of full-scale manufacturing.
