SAME Brand Origins
SAME (Società Accomandita Motori Endotermici) was established in 1942 in Italy. The company began operations during World War II and focused on producing internal combustion engines and agricultural machinery. The founding occurred in Treviglio, in the Lombardy region.
SAME Logo and Visual Style

Early Development (1940s-1950s)

Power Range Expansion (1960s-1980s)
The SAME Centauro model arrived in 1966, transitioning from traditional mechanical systems to updated engineering. The 240 model (1958-1963) produced 42 HP, while later models like the Centauro 60 (1970-1972) reached 57 HP.
In 1976, SAME introduced the Buffalo, entering the high-power segment. The Buffalo 120 (1974-1977) generated 115 HP. The Buffalo 130 (1978-1982) increased output to 125 HP.
The Hercules 160 (1979-1983) reached 160 HP, representing the upper limit of SAME’s power range during this period.
Model Diversification (1980s-1990s)
The SAME Explorer range launched in 1983, eventually producing 70,000 units.
Initial models included:
- Explorer 55 (1983-1986): 55 HP.
- Explorer 65 (1983-1986): 65 HP.
- Explorer 75 (1985-1987): 75 HP.
The Galaxy 170 (1983-1994) provided 170 HP for large-scale operations. The Laser series offered multiple power options, with the Laser 150 producing 114 HP and the Laser 130 reaching 125 HP.
In 1991, SAME launched Frutteto II, designed for orchards and vineyards. These tractors featured compact dimensions and specialized configurations for row crop work.
The Titan series (1991-2001) included models from 145 HP to 190 HP. The Antares line covered the 100-130 HP range.
Technical Integration (2000s-2010s)
The year 2000 marked the introduction of electronic control systems. SAME developed Powershift and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) options, allowing operators to adjust speed without manual gear changes.
The SAME Dorado series expanded during this period:
- Dorado 55 (2000-2004): 56 HP.
- Dorado 65 (1999-2004): 63 HP.
- Dorado 75 (2000-2004): 72 HP.

In 2011, SAME DEUTZ-FAHR produced its one millionth tractor, a Frutteto3 S 90.3 Hi-Steer model.
The Virtus range launched in 2012. In 2015, SAME introduced the ActiveDrive system for transmission control. The Frutteto CVT range appeared in 2018, applying continuously variable transmission to specialist tractors.
